Altus High School’s Amarion Lofton
Altus High School senior Amarion Lofton approaches his final football season with a clear mindset shaped by discipline, faith and family.
Lofton, a varsity center, anchors the offense in one of the most demanding positions on the field. Tasked with delivering accurate snaps and immediately engaging defenders, he embraces the responsibility that comes with the role.
“The hardest part is making sure every snap gets to the quarterback accurately and then blocking right away,” Lofton said.
A senior this fall, Lofton credits his motivation to the people closest to him. “My family and God inspire me,” he said. “They motivate me to keep working hard, stay humble, and keep pushing through challenges.”
That foundation has carried into his athletic career, where he values the relationships built through football as much as the competition itself. For Lofton, the team’s bond stands out as the defining part of the experience.
“The brotherhood,” he said. “I enjoy being around my friends and teammates and working together toward the same goal.”
That unity is something he believes separates his team, noting the trust and support players show each other on and off the field.
“I love that we’re all in this together,” Lofton said. “We support each other, work hard for one another, and would do anything for each other on the field.”
Among his most memorable moments was a standout play from last season. Lofton recalled Kolby Ronje’s touchdown as his favorite in-game memory, a moment that reflected both teamwork and execution.
He has also experienced the intensity of high-stakes competition firsthand. One game in particular still stands out.
“The Guthrie game,” Lofton said. “It was muddy, extremely close, and one of the most intense games I’ve ever seen.”
Off the field, Lofton keeps things simple. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, maintaining a balance that helps him stay grounded throughout the season.
In the classroom, science is his favorite subject, and he credits Mr. Davis, a teacher from his junior year, as a lasting influence.
As he prepares for each game, Lofton relies on a consistent mental routine. “I clear my mind, listen to music, review my responsibilities, and visualize making plays,” he said. “I trust my preparation and focus on giving maximum effort every snap.”
Through football, Lofton has developed habits that extend beyond the game. He points to accountability, punctuality and leadership as lessons that will carry into his future.
With his senior season underway, Lofton continues to lead from the line, setting the tone through effort, focus and a commitment to his teammates.
