Altus Area Players to Watch – JCMH Orthopedic Center

FOOTBALL

Zayden Glatzer-Brown – Altus
Zayden has been a two-year starter, primarily contributing in the defensive backfield during his freshman and sophomore seasons. This year, he is expected to take on a much larger role as the featured back in Altus’ offense. His experience on both sides of the ball gives him a strong understanding of the game. With an expanded role, this season has the potential to be a breakout year for him.

Braylin Hunt – Frederick
Braylin returns as a proven two-way starter after an impressive junior season. After missing his sophomore year with a knee injury, he emerged as a versatile offensive weapon, lining up at both running back and receiver while leading the team in rushing and receiving. Defensively, he made a strong impact at linebacker despite being undersized, showing toughness and instinct. His leadership, character, and playmaking ability make him a key piece for Frederick.

Stetson Phillips – Geary
Stetson is a 6-foot-5 lineman who makes an impact on both the offensive and defensive fronts. He combines his size with good footwork and athleticism, allowing him to control play in the trenches. Phillips is known as a highly coachable player who continues to develop his skills. He also serves as a leader both on and off the field for Geary.

Matt Parker – Hollis
Matt is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who has accounted for 4,267 total yards and 56 touchdowns over the past two seasons. He is difficult to contain in space, showing excellent vision, athleticism, and a strong understanding of the game. While Hollis leans heavily on the run, Parker also possesses an elite arm that keeps defenses guessing. A two-time District MVP, he has also contributed defensively since his freshman year, recording four interceptions last season, including one returned for a touchdown.

Remington Laughlin – Mangum
Remington is a four-year starter who brings experience and consistency to the field. He possesses the tools needed to compete at the next level and continues to refine his game each season. Known for his strong work ethic, he stands out in every environment he steps into. His dedication and commitment make him a cornerstone player for Mangum.

JJ Jillah – Tipton
JJ is a powerful and explosive athlete who contributes on both sides of the ball. Despite battling a high ankle sprain last season, he continued to show his toughness and resilience. He brings strength, speed, and physicality to every play. As a true workhorse, he is expected to play a major role for Tipton this season.

FASTPITCH SOFTBALL

Cheresh Tubbs – Snyder
Cheresh is a talented junior shortstop with a well-rounded skill set. She earned Shortgrass All-Conference honors as a sophomore, highlighting her impact on the field. Her defense stands out as a strength, with the ability to make difficult plays look routine. With her speed on the bases and continued development at the plate, she has the potential to become one of the top players in southwest Oklahoma.

CROSS COUNTRY

Anna Pendergraft – Hollis
Anna is a three-time state qualifier in cross country who continues to improve each season. She has steadily lowered her times through hard work and dedication, setting her sights on a top-15 finish at state in her senior year. In addition to cross country, she has qualified for state in track in the two-mile run. Her strong work ethic, leadership, and positive attitude make her a role model for younger runners.

Graydon Whorton and Wyatt Brill – Hollis
Graydon and Wyatt have been instrumental leaders for Hollis, helping guide the program to three consecutive top-six finishes at state. Both athletes lead by example, consistently pushing themselves and encouraging their teammates to reach higher levels. Their dedication extends beyond competition, as they excel in all aspects of their lives. With their experience and leadership, both are poised for strong individual seasons.

VOLLEYBALL

Kaprie Craddock – Altus
Kaprie has already made a significant impact on the Altus volleyball program entering her junior season. She holds the school records for both single-season kills and career kills, showcasing her offensive ability. Kaprie continues to improve her all-around game, including her serving and back-row play, while maintaining a team-first attitude. With her work ethic and drive, she is positioned for another outstanding season.

Katie Clayton – Blair
Katie played a vital role in Blair’s volleyball program with her consistent leadership and competitive mindset. She set the tone daily with her work ethic, pushing both herself and her teammates to improve. Her confidence and intensity were evident in matches, especially in high-pressure situations. An All-Tournament selection, she earned recognition from opposing coaches while helping establish a strong foundation for the program’s future.

Jennie Cobb – Navajo
Jennie is an energetic and consistently positive presence on the court. She brings versatility as a multi-position player and competes with intensity in every practice and match. Despite her size, she plays with strength and delivers impactful performances. Her attitude and effort make her an important contributor to Navajo’s success.

Rebecca DiMario – Snyder
Rebecca showed strong performance before injuries slowed her last season. She is a versatile player capable of contributing at any position on the court. Her skill set and adaptability make her a valuable asset to the team. With a healthy return, she has the potential to be one of the top small-school players in the area.
