Altus High School’s Alina Hiatt has worked extremely hard to get to where she is as a senior. Head coach Linda Wiginton had great things to say about the senior.
“Alina has improved so much from when she first started swimming. She has worked very hard. If she has to leave practice for another school activity (Academic Team), she always returns and finishes the workout on her own. Another thing about Alina is she is willing to swim any event we ever ask her to swim- no questions asked. She strives to help the girls’ team any way she can. She is also very bright and has great future goals,” said coach Wiginton.
Just before the Altus swim team left for the state competition, we caught up with Hiatt to learn more about this senior.
VYPE: Alina, how long have you been swimming competitively?
Hiatt: I have been swimming for three years.
VYPE: What do your teammates mean to you?
Hiatt: My teammates mean a lot to me; they are really good people.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being a student-athlete at Altus High School?
Hiatt: My favorite part of being a student-athlete is being able to push myself.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Hiatt: In my free time I enjoy playing piano, reading, and folding origami.
