Altus senior Andrew Czelusta will wrestle in the state tournament alongside three of his teammates.
Senior Andrew Czelusta will represent Altus High School at the state wrestling tournament in Oklahoma City, wrestling at 160-pounds. We caught up with Andrew just before they pulled out of Altus and headed to the Big House.
VYPE: Andrew, when did you get your start in wrestling?
Czelusta: I have been wrestling since my seventh grade year.
VYPE: You’re headed to state with three teammates, but the wrestling room is full of guys on the team. What do those guys mean to you?
Czelusta: My teammates are my support and are like family to me. They always have my back when I need them, there to pick me up when I’m low and there to celebrate with me on my highs. I couldn’t ask for a better family in my life.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Altus?
Czelusta: I love the drive it’s gives me. To get up every morning and know I have to be better than the day before.
VYPE: How do you like to spend your free time?
Czelusta: Off the mat I’m surrounding myself with friends and family. Going out exploring news things and learning something new every day.
