Altus Mom – Katie Tesh – Presented by JCMH Obstetrics & Gynecology

One of the biggest goals of being a parent is helping your children become good people when they grow up. As a mother, Katie Tesh knows that teaching her kids about the importance of priorities is vital.
“I think it is 100% important for my kids to have priorities and to follow them,” she said. “In life we constantly have to juggle that and it’s best to teach them how to handle and achieve them so they can be a successful adult.”

Tesh has three children, a son-in-law, and a grandchild. Her daughter, Ellie, is a seventh grade English teacher at Altus Junior High. Her son-in-law, Draven, is a senior at Northeastern State University. He just finished his final year of football for the RiverHawks. Noah, her son, is a senior at Altus High School, where he is a member of the wrestling team. After high school, he looks to attend welding school. And Emberly is her three-month old granddaughter that she is very proud of.

Along with helping them keep their priorities in order, Katie tries her best to stay as involved as she can in their athletic and extracurricular activities.

“I stay involved by consistently asking questions and making the time for every dual, match, event or game,” she said. “It also helps with my husband being the assistant coach for the junior high wrestling team as he keeps me up to date with a lot that pertains to wrestling.”

Tesh works at the Med Group on the Altus Air Force Base, managing sterilization and infection control. And she assists with dental procedures. She also manages the child care at Freedom Church.

When she is not working or cheering on and supporting her kids, Katie finds another way that she loves to spend her time.

“What I enjoy in my free time is hanging with my family and spending time with my new granddaughter,” she said proudly. “Life goes so fast and the older I get the more I realize how important time really is. I also enjoy taking pictures but I’m far from a photographer.”
