High school athletes invest a lot of time and effort to be the best that they can be when they compete. So, when they see that hard work pay off, it brings a sense of accomplishment. For Jenna Blackford, the most memorable moment of her career was just that situation.

“I think the highlight for me has been when I signed to be a student athlete at Oklahoma Baptist for track,” she said.
Blackford is a senior at Altus High School. Along with being part of the track team, she also plays softball and basketball. Jenna servest as President of the Student Body as well as the National Honor Society.

Being able to take her talents and compete at the college level is something that Blackford is proud to be able to do but knows that it did not come easy.
“For me, it’s taken a lot of hard work, early morning lifts, late practices, and lots of time in prayer,” she said. “And also my support system of family and my coachs I wouldn’t be anywhere without them. This season, my biggest motivation is knowing that I only have one more chance to be a state champion.”

There have been people in Jenna’s life that have helped shape her into the person that she is today.

“My biggest role model is my mom,” she said. “She has shown me to be selfless and kind no matter the situation. She is the strongest person that I know, and I owe all my success to her.”

When she steps out to compete, being able to wear the Altus uniform is something that Blackford is proud to be able to do.

“It means everything that I get to represent Altus at such a high level,” she said. “I love this community and everything that comes with it. I hope to enjoy this last season as a bulldog and end it as a state champion.”
