Altus’ Kyerra Osborn – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Frazer Bank

They’re excited for Kyerra Osborn around Atlus.

“Kyerra is an impressive athlete and I expect great things from her this season,” AHS head softball coach Jessica Robinson said. “I’m looking for her to make a big impact this season. She’s versatile and could play anywhere.”

Osborn, a to-be freshman, plays fast pitch and basketball and runs track. Her athletic career began when she started playing T-Ball at 4 years old, but she really gained an appetite for the sport when she started playing travel ball.

“When I started playing travel ball and began facing real competition and building relationships with my teammates,” Osborn said.

Raised in an athletic family, she was destined to be where she is today.

“My mom and dad support me 110%. They’re always there for me and will do anything for me to be the best I could be,” Osborn said. “My mom played softball as well — That’s where she says I get my talent from — and my dad did wrestling. My parents have taught me to always make the best out of everything. They always pick me up when I’m feeling down and never discourage me.”

Osborn will be thrust into an important role for the Bulldogs this year, but she’s not intimidated. Being a “people person,” in her own words, has helped her to mesh with her teammates in a short time.

“I love the girls on the team. They make me feel so welcomed,” Osborn said. “Softball is a game of failure, and no matter what, my team picks me back up.”

Sports are undoubtedly an integral thread of Osborn’s life. She hopes others can experience something they find equally fulfilling.

“I think it’s important, because everyone needs something in their life that makes them happy, no matter what it is,” Osborn said. “I will always turn to softball any time I’m not feeling myself, because to me, it’s where I feel the most at home.”

Over these next four years, Osborn hopes to put herself in position to play at the collegiate level.

“My goals are to always work hard, even on the bad days, and never give up on myself.”
