Current Altus High School junior and varsity tennis player Dillon Pavelschak is enjoying the opportunity to play tennis for Altus after moving into the district from another state. Pavelschak said he loves playing doubles and watching the team improve with every outing.
“I most enjoy playing with and growing as a team with all the guys on the Altus tennis team,” said Pavelschak. “I most love eating out and driving back from tournaments with the team after a full day of playing tennis.”
A tennis player since the seventh grade, Pavelschak is one of the members of the No. 1 doubles team at Altus.
“Being new to the area, representing Altus is a privilege that I enjoy due to getting to be able show my school spirit and pride within the activities we all represent,” said Pavelschak. “The most surprising element to me about Oklahoma is the wind, even coming from a pretty windy area in Illinois it was definitely unexpected.”
Pavelschak said it’s important to always show good sportsmanship on the court. Especially since the players make most of the calls during play.
“To me showing good sportsmanship out on the court means playing a tough and fair match with friendly and respectful opponents,” said Pavelschak.
Away from tennis you can usually find him practicing with the choir or the drumline in the band. In his free time, Pavelschak said he enjoys practicing music and hanging out around town with my friends.
