Altus High School track and field coaches know junior Aiden Chapa for his commendable work ethic.
Aiden just goes out every day and does the workout without complaint,” Altus head coach Robert Garrison said. “Aiden has a job that he has to go to before practice is over, but he is very direct in coming back to finish his workout or add it to the next day’s workout.”
“He just goes about his day without much fanfare and the coaching staff appreciates it.”
Chapa runs distance for the Bulldogs and competes on the cross country team.
“I’ve always been a hard worker in everything I do and strive to always do 101%,” Chapa said. He’s also known for pushing his teammates in practice. He wants them to succeed, even after he graduates in 2024.
“I want them to remember to never give up and never think negative of the stuff and always keep your head high,” Chapa said. “I’ve never been the one to brad because it always causes drama, and I never want to better than anyone and hold it against them. I want to use my success to make others succeed.”
Chapa considers his legs to be his best physical quality, most specifically his stride length, which he has forged “to endure a lot of miles.”
“I’ve always had a thing with my kick at the end of the race,” Chapa said. After high school, Chapa aspires to become an Air Force loadmaster, following in his dad’s steps.
