This month’s Altus Mom of the Month is Micala Davis.
“I feel very blessed to be honored with such a title,” Micala said.
Volunteering is something Micala can always remember being a part of.
“My mom and Grandmother always had my sister and me volunteering at church and in our community,” said Micala. “I guess it became a habit.”
Micala volunteers as team mom for the high school softball team, the girl’s high school basketball team, as well as being one of the coordinators for the basketball’s senior night.
“My favorite part of volunteering is getting to know the kids,” said Micala. “Also getting to be a part of such an exciting part of their high school careers.”
Growing up Micala played both of the sports she now volunteers for. Having great experiences in both basketball and softball growing up, she now tries to help pass on those great experiences and memorable moments along for these Altus High School athletes.
She grew up in Cordell, Oklahoma and after graduating high school she went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. She then married her husband Tyler, and they have five amazing kids together. Micala works at Black Orchid Floral and also runs her own small business as a photographer. Micala is always busy, so free time isn’t something that comes too often for her, but she doesn’t seem to mind that.
“I’m usually working on something for one of our children’s teams, or on the road heading to a game, track meet, or wrestling tournament,” Micala said.
Being a busy mom, high school sports volunteer, wife, as well as a career woman, Micala has to have some great inspiration to draw from every day. The credit for that inspiration goes to her grandparents Lela Mae and C.H. Hughes.
