Evyn Bull, a Junior at Altus High School, is ready to make some big serves this season. On the tennis court, she has a strong serve and skillful doubles player. On the volleyball court, she shines as a hitter and a defensive specialist, making her versatile anywhere on the court. This fall, Bull is ready to showcase all her hard work and love for both sports.
Bulls credits both her coaches and her mom for making a lasting impact on her journey. Her coaches inspire her with their energy, love, and time. This investment of time and care helps her improve each day. Her mom, she says, is the perfect example of optimism and support.
“She’s always positive and cheering me on, and she’s constantly shining God’s light through everything she does,” Bull shares.
For Bull, achievement in both sports and academics comes down to hard work and commitment. She believes success is going the extra mile to reach your goals. As a student athlete, Bull stays on top of her studies with one strategy: don’t procrastinate. Maintaining a strong work ethic is important to her.
“You can’t just do the bare minimum and expect to get better,” she explains.
Bull enjoys a good challenge, especially when facing Olivia Williams High School, a team she often battles back and forth with in tennis. Those matches make for an intense game, pushing both teams to elevate their skills. She also credits her teammate, Hayden Castillo, for always giving 110% and pushing her to step outside her comfort zone, which in turn sparks Bull to work even harder.
Representing the Altus Bulldogs is something truly special for Bull. She’s grateful for the unwavering support from the fans and the community. She especially looks forward to seeing the young fans look up to her. To them, she offers a piece of advice straight from the heart.
“Love your sport, and don’t be too hard on yourself because at the end of the day, it’s just a game. No matter the outcome, it doesn’t define who you are as a person,” the junior shares.
After high school, Bull hopes to attend the University of Oklahoma’s radiology program to pursue a degree in radiation therapy. With her determination and heart, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to shine both on and off the court.
