Altus’ Rawley Winsett – Presented by Cattlemens Bank

High school students have a number of people that they look up to as role models. For some, it may be a celebrity or someone famous, while others could look up to a collegiate or professional athlete. But for Rawley Winsett, he says that the biggest influence on his life is someone that is a little closer to home.

“The biggest role model in my life is my dad,” he stated. “I appreciate his work ethic and that is something that I am working to have.”

Rawley is a sophomore at Altus High School, where he is a member of the Bulldog’s tennis team. Becoming the athlete that he is today has taken a lot of hard work and Winsett says you have to be willing to put in the work if you want to be good.

“For me to get where I am today, it has taken a lot of dedication,” he stated. “Putting in extra hours of practice whenever I need it.”

Jessica Robinson is the tennis coach for Altus High School. She says that Rawley is a focused athlete that is not afraid to work.

“Rawley is one of my players who I know works on improving every single day, he is always asking questions and applying tactics and drills in his play,” Robinson said. “He is a kid that you always see at the courts, he worked hard on his own to improve over the seasons. Last year as a freshman he played an important role on varsity, and played wherever he was needed. I appreciate his willingness to ask questions and be accountable. I can’t wait to see his hard work pay off on the court this year.”

Representing his school positively is something that is important to Winsett.

“Whenever I am on the court, I try to have the best attitude I can,” he said. “I am wearing the Bulldog uniform and I want to make my school proud.”
