VYPE: How did your season turn out and what were your goals?
Gaby: This season is just beginning but there have already been some great accomplishments. At cheer camp this year I earned the Pin it Forward award, and was named an All-American. My goals for this year are to win another state championship, and earn a bid to nationals in Florida. I would also like to make all-region and be able to try out for all-state cheer. I would also like to get closer with my whole team in the process and be a strong leader for them.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Gaby: The most fun I have had in the past year was cheer camp. We finally got to go to an away camp at the University of Oklahoma. I made some new friends and was able to meet some amazing UCA staff. Cheer camp is always one of the best parts of my year and I always look forward to it. The long and rough days are well worth it in the end.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Gaby: My favorite teacher is Mr. Dabelstein. He was my math teacher for three years total, 6th, 8th, and 11th grade. He is definitely one of those teachers I’ll never forget. He has always had my back and helped me with any problems I’ve ever had, not just problems in class.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Gaby: My favorite memory in cheer was winning a state championship title with my team in 2020. It was such an amazing feeling.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Gaby: Kaalon Welch is definitely one teammate that really helped to get me out of my shell and learn the ways of high school and cheer. She was one of my closest friends going into high school and I wouldn’t be who I am today if she didn’t come into my life.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Gaby: The best part of being on a team is knowing I have a group of 22 other girls and three coaches that will always be beside me and support me in everything. Cheer friendships are definitely special.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Gaby: I would choose to go to Greece as I’ve wanted to go there my whole life. I would take my senior teammates: Nyla, Abi, Madelyn, and Grace because they have been my best friends since day one.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Gaby: I would always watch the cheerleaders when going to the football games with my grandparents. I looked up to them so much that when I reached 7th grade I tried out for the cheer squad and have loved cheering ever since!

Gaby: First of all I would like to say thank you to my mom for loving me and giving me the best pep talks before every practice, game, and competition, and always pushing me to be my best, as well as the rest of my huge family for making it to as many of my events as possible to support me. Thank you to Carson for being one of my #1 supporters throughout these past few years. I also wanna say a huge thank you to my coaches, Kacie, Nicole, and Jordan for being like second moms to me and believing in me. One last shoutout to all of my teammates, I love every single one of y’all!
