Carlee Miller had an interest in FFA from a very young age. Following her older siblings from event to event helped foster her interest in FFA and now as a freshman at Altus High School, Miller is excited to take advantage of what the chapter has to offer.
“I got involved in FFA at a young age and took interest in FFA when my older brother started showing and going to all of his agricultural activities which for me was around the age of six,” said Miller. “There are two people who have gotten me involved and encouraged me to get into FFA, my mom, Julie Miller, my dad, Chad Miller, and my brother, Carson Miller.”
From showing livestock to meeting new friends from other FFA chapters, Miller said she’s enjoyed being part of the chapter at Altus.
“The things I enjoy most about FFA is definitely all of the amazing opportunities I get and all of the new friends I make that can last up to a lifetime,” said Miller. “I am currently involved in the Agricultural Leadership class at school and involved in showing my livestock. I have shown livestock my whole lifetime. I have shown cattle, sheep, and goats which I am still currently showing.”
As a student-athlete, Miller is a member of the cheer squad and the swim and track teams.
“What I love most about being on the cheer team is the people I am with they are always there to encourage you and pick you up when you need it most and I don’t know where I would be right now without all of my sisters,” said Miller. “I love being on all of my teams. Everyone has good attitudes all the time no matter how hard things get with what activity we are doing.”
Miller said anyone looking to get involved in FFA should do it.
“Join it! FFA will be a group of people to remember forever. No matter where you’re from we are all part of a brotherhood.”
Miller said her grandmother has been a huge influence in her life.
“There are tons of people who have influenced my life but the one person who has really pushed me to do my best is my grandma. We call her Mimi. She has always been at all of my activities when nobody else has been able to make it. She really has been a great family member and friend to everyone that knows her,” said Miller.
